Our company was founded in 1951 by Edmund and Mathilde Senbert as a small craft business and has been dedicated to knitting ever since. For many years, we specialized in outerwear. In 2010, we added a new line of business: since then, we have also been knitting technical textiles. In 2012, we received the internal Adidas Award for Innovation for our first knitted shoe.

Today, we manufacture outerwear, shoes for medical purposes, uppers for barefoot shoes, components for workwear, as well as chair covers and parts for automotive interiors. In the field of 3D Knit, we have established ourselves as a competent development partner. In addition to our location in Bad Kötzting, we have been collaborating since 1991 with our Czech partner company "Senbert CZ" in Tisnov near Brno.

Our History

  • 1951

Edmund and Mathilde Senbert founded our company and began by producing custom-made knitwear on hand-operated knitting machines.
  • 1960

We are moving into our own production facilities in Bad Kötzting and are beginning to distribute the “Raab Strickwaren” brand to specialty retailers in the Lower Bavaria/Upper Palatinate region.
  • 1964

We are investing in our first knitting machine and switching to larger production runs. Our company has eight employees.
  • 1968

We are expanding our production space and machinery capacity at our Bad Kötzting location. Our workforce is growing to 16 people.
  • 1972

We are expanding our production facilities and machinery capacity (12-gauge, 8-gauge, and 5-gauge) and employ 40 people. Effective immediately, we are supplying well-known brands such as Bruestle, Bogner, SRB, ESCADA, ARA-Jersey, Laurel, Joop, Falke Fashion, and Carlo Colucci.
  • 1977

We are installing a finishing line to enhance the value of our knitted textiles (i.e., improve their care properties). Eva and Erhard Senbert are joining the project.
  • 1985

We are changing our name to E. Senbert Mode GmbH, with Edmund Senbert, Erhard Senbert, and Bernhard Bachl serving as managing directors.
  • 1988

We are moving into our new building in the industrial park on Arnbruckerstraße. From that point on, we will be operating out of two production facilities in Kötzting. Our workforce has now grown to 120 employees.
  • 1991

Managing Director Erhard Senbert and partner Josef Hovorka founded Duo Moda spol.s.r.o. in Brno, Czech Republic.
  • 1992

We are launching production (primarily assembly work) in Brno with seven employees and expanding our machinery fleet (3gg-12gg). Managing Director Bernhard Bachl and shareholder M. Bachl are leaving the company.
  • 1994

Josef Hovorka, partner and managing director, is leaving the company.
  • 1997

Edmund Senbert is stepping down as a partner and managing director of the company. Since then, Erhard Senbert has been the sole partner and managing director of both companies. We are installing knitting machines at Duo Moda and expanding our portfolio to include full-scale production of knitwear.
  • 2000

We are continuing to expand our production capacity in collaboration with external partners in Eastern Europe and are adding a Macmor 12gg circular knitting machine to our fleet of knitting machines.
  • 2007

We are expanding our range of machines to sizes 3–14.
  • 2010

With our development project for knitted shoe uppers for a well-known sporting goods company, we are entering the new sector of “technical textiles.”
  • 2012

We are investing in state-of-the-art Stoll flat knitting machines for shoe upper production and integrating adhesive technology into the upper assembly process. In addition, we are launching our first production runs of shoe uppers using 3D patterns while simultaneously expanding our development capabilities for technical textiles.
  • 2016

We develop knitwear with cut-resistant properties, high comfort, and the ability to withstand industrial laundering. In addition, we are testing coatings and hardening treatments on select areas of elastic fabrics and continuing to expand our mass production of shoe uppers.
  • 2021
